While there is nothing wrong with this, these business owners don’t realize they are missing out on potential organic traffic SEO could provide. It would interest you to note that SEO is less expensive than other online marketing strategies that exist. Well the initial cost may be on the high side, but the long-term benefits should make any business owner give it a shot.

So what exactly is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization or SEO is used to optimize websites and make it user friendly. It allows your website to be found by the search engines like Google, Bing, Yandex, etc. SEO is a technique that is used to enhance the ranking of website in Search Engine Results pages (SERP). The higher up your website appears, the easier it is for you to be found.

Three types of SEO

#1 On-Page SEO

It includes providing quality, relevant, original and fresh content. Perform a keywords research and build a keywords master list. Next you want to ensure you place your keywords in correct places (titles, body text and meta descriptions). Avoid over using the keywords on a particular page (referred to keywords stuffing). You can rank lower if Google noticed this on your website. From research an ideal keyword density is around 1-2%. that is about one to two times per 100 words. At this rate, the keyword appears enough times and so search engines can understand what the page is about without unnecessary keyword stuffing.. Keywords density used to be a very big deal but for ranking but not anymore as google uses related terms and synonyms to your keyword to check the overall purpose of your page. Pay attention to Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) Keywords. You can easily find LSI Keywords using Google Auto complete. Notice that Google gives you a couple of ideas when you type in your focus Keywords. Include a few of these on your page. Notice the bold text in the suggestions. Next give appropriate titles to every page, etc. Don’t forget to use the  image + alt tags so search engines know exactly what those images describe. Make sure these alt tags have keywords relevant to the page.

#2 Off-Page SEO

It includes link building, increasing link popularity by listing in online directories, writing reviews, blogging, link exchange, social media, share videos etc. Its bad to buy Links, Google could penalize you for this. Take the Pain to build quality backlinks. You can use ahrefs free backlink checker to see what sites are linking to yours. You can also use it to check sites your competitors’ link to. Another useful tool is ubbersuggest. It is important to optimize so that user from external pages or of social media can find your website. Being optimized for SEO increases the site’s potential to draw customers from other platforms other than the search engine. Posting contents and links to your page on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, helps to promote your website and attract organic traffic which is the primary goal of SEO. Better SEO also means you will spend less on paid advertising. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) can be quite slow in the beginning, but it would pay you more in the long run. Some SEO-related tools such as the Google Keyword Planner and Google Analytics provide quantitative data to help you understand your market, analyze the trends, and know your competitors’ standings. It helps you identify popular and valuable keywords so you can decide how to structure or revise your content. It also gives you insights on your market’s behavior such as location, times of activity, frequency of searches, technologies used, product preferences, etc. All these metrics are useful in helping you get to know your audience, their needs, and their expectations.

#3 - Technical SEO

Basically involves creating a site map for your website so search engines can understand how your pages are structured. Next you want to ensure your site is properly indexed in Google, Bing and other popular search engines using their web master tools. If you use an SEO plugin that should be quite easy to accomplish.
